Diocese of Syracuse

Explore 138 Catholic parishes, updated schedules, and livestream options across the diocese.

Established by Pope Leo XIII on November 26, 1886, the Diocese of Syracuse covers seven counties across central New York — Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. Its 139 parishes serve a region where Catholic history runs deep: Jesuit missionary Simon Le Moyne first traveled here in 1654, and Irish immigrants who built the Erie Canal in the 1820s swelled the early Church. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Syracuse has served as the diocesan seat since 1904.
