Explore 129 Catholic parishes, up-to-date schedules, and livestream options in the diocese.
The Diocese of Austin was erected on November 15, 1947, carved from the Archdiocese of San Antonio and the dioceses of Galveston and Dallas, making it the seventh Catholic diocese in Texas. It covers 25 counties of Central Texas, with St. Mary Cathedral in Austin — the oldest Catholic church in the city, built in 1884 — serving as its seat. The diocese is also home to the Catholic Archives of Texas, the official repository for all Texas Catholic dioceses. Around 128 parishes serve the diocese today.
