Pastor Fr. Dan McBride - July 4th Message
Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our 250th anniversary as a nation it is a great time to stop and pray for who we are and what we are called to do as a nation. Our nation was founded on principles of Christians who valued freedom. They valued freedom to worship, to assemble, to speak our voices. We as Catholics are a vital part of the American Culture. Our voice is different than others. We are called to be in this world, but not of this world. We say the pledge of allegiance, we stand and sing our national anthem, but we also have a distinct call to be true to our Catholic Values. We serve in public office, we vote, we serve our nation in the police, the fire departments and our military with a heart that also protects our voiceless brothers and sisters. We feed the poor, run hospitals, and shelter the homeless. Our reach is in every part of the nation. And for that we should be proud! It is nothing less than what God calls us to do. Paul Mehro
