Pastoral MessageJuly 5, 2026

From the Pastor

"This Sunday's Gospel offers one of the most comforting invitations found in all of Sacred Scripture. Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest... Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart." (Matthew 11:28-30)

These words speak directly to our hearts. Many of us carry burdens that are not always visible—concerns about our families, financial pressures, health challenges, grief, uncertainty, or the demands of everyday life. At times, these burdens can seem overwhelming. Yet Jesus does not promise a life without difficulties; instead, He promises that we do not have to carry them alone.

The yoke that Christ offers is unlike the heavy burdens the world often places upon us. His yoke is one of love, mercy, and hope. When we walk with Him, He strengthens us through His grace, nourishes us in the Holy Eucharist, and reminds us that His love is greater than any trial we face.

Here at St. Helen Catholic Church, we are a family of faith united in Christ. Each time we gather for the Eucharist, we are strengthened by God's Word and nourished by His Body and Blood to live as His disciples. I invite you to become more involved in our parish through prayer, fellowship, and service. Together, we continue Christ's mission by sharing His love and hope with our community.

To all who are visiting St. Helen today, welcome! We are honored that you have chosen to worship with us. Whether you are visiting family, traveling through our area, returning to the Church, or searching for a parish home, we pray that you experience Christ's presence in our celebration and the warmth of our parish family. Know that you are always welcome here.

As we continue through Ordinary Time, let us renew our trust in the Lord. Whatever burdens you bring to Mass today, place them before Jesus on this altar. Allow Him to fill your heart with His peace and to remind you that His mercy is always greater than our fears.

God bless you and your families.
