Summer Seminar
One of our parishioners, JC Hall, will be offering a four week Summer Seminar on Tuesdays in July from 6:30- 7:30 pm in the church. He is currently a PhD Candidate at Catholic University of America and will be speaking on the documents of Vatican 2 as well as Magnifica Humanitas and their importance in our lives today.

Foundations of Faith
Foundations of Faith is an eight-week series held on Wednesday evenings. Those who attend will enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal and dessert while spending time with people from all walks of life. After the meal, you'll hear a thought-provoking talk designed to explore the meaning and purpose of your life. Following the talk, you'll have the opportunity to share your thoughts in an intimate small-group setting. The idea is that by creating a beautiful and welcoming space where people can ask life's deepest questions together, each person may encounter Christ anew. this series is for anyone and everyone - from baptized in the pews to those who have never been baptized. Summer Mission
All children are invited to join us for our first-ever Totus Tuus Summer Mission. This will take place July 26–31 here at SJE. The daytime program for **1st–6th graders will run from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Mon-Fri,** and the evening program for **7th–12th graders will run from 6:30 - 8:45 pm Sun-Thu**. Registration is now open. Note from the Pastor
Dear Friends in Christ,
As many of you may have heard already, Fr. Brendan McKeefry who was previous pastor at Our Lady of the Assumption, passed away suddenly a little over a week ago. We pray for the repose of his soul. He had a big heart and a rich Irish charm. He will certainly be missed!
This week I am starting some days of vacation. I will be going to a conference in Santa Cruz on the Sacrament of Confession and how to be a better confessor. I will be there until Friday. I will be back to check in on a few things on Friday and then depart on Saturday to Washington State to visit a classmate who is a priest in the Archdiocese of Seattle. We are going to visit a Benedictine monastery on Shaw Island. I will be back on Friday again and then off for a few days to Lake Tahoe. While I am gone, the retired Archbishop Michael Jackels will be celebrating Mass and hearing Confessions. Do keep him busy! The weekend of July 18 & 19 we will be visited by the Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph, who are a group of missionary sisters in the Phillipines. You will learn more about their ministry and how you can support their work. Fr. Arnold Parungao will accompany them and celebrate the Masses that weekend. We were ordained together in 2013.
This past week we finished the abatement and installed the lights in St. James. So we can start using it again! We still have some work left to do. The windows should be coming towards the end of July and then we still have some sheetrock, painting, and flooring work to do. We also begin the work of replacing the roofs at Tralee and the Preschool building this Monday. It has been waiting in the wings for years and after so many leaks and patches, we are finally able to replace them. We are also replacing some of the water fountains on the school campus this week. And we should be close to finished repainting the Mercy Hall and finishing the work on the inside walls of Tralee. Thank you for everyone who is so generous with supporting the work of our parish.
Also, you may notice that the statue of St. John the Evangelist is now missing in the sanctuary. A generous donor recently gave us the necessary funds to get it repainted as well. He also had a broken finger so that will be fixed as well. I am hopeful we will see the newly painted statues by the end of July or early August. But no matter the timing, the refreshed statues will be a blessing for us all.
We are hard at work recruiting more Altar Servers as well as other lay ministers in liturgy and beyond. Here are a few of our current servers, both old and new. In August we will have a Ministry Fair as part of our month on Stewardship. It will give people, perhaps you, a chance to discern how you might want to serve in the life of our parish community.
