From Our Pastor

Rev. John P. Klevence, KHS Dear Parishioners and Visitors:

Just recently I signed the contract with CCS. They are the company who helped us with the Feasibility Study and will be assisting us with the upcoming Capital Campaign. The Campaign will hopefully raise the funds that we need to build, and to properly equip, our new Parish Center at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Of course, we have much prep work and many meetings before the Capital Campaign moves into high gear. You will be hearing more as we continue on through this process. I hope that you are as excited as I am with the possibilities that will be open to our parish family, and even our wider community, with this wonderful addition to our parish facilities. As we grow in membership, we also need to grow in service and ministry. The new Parish Center will enable us to do just that. As we move forward, I ask your prayers for a successful completion to this project and for all those, and most especially myself, who are or who will be involved in moving forward and completing this project. Have a Great Bethany Beach Week! Stay Safe! Stay Healthy!

N.B. I Deacon Kimmel has arrived in our parish and will be with us until around mid-August. Again, we joyfully welcome him to our parish. I know that you will warmly welcome him. Be sure to introduce yourself to him. However, remember that you have one new name to remember, while he has many new names and faces to remember.

N.B. II Our Diocesan Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal is still in progress. Thank you to all those who have already pledged or gifted. Your generosity is truly overwhelming. If you have not yet made a pledge or a gift, you can still do so. Appeal envelopes can be found at the doors of both churches. Your gift of whatever size does count and does make a difference. Through your generosity, a candle of hope is lit for a neighbor. You can make a positive difference in the life of a brother or sister. Thank you for your most generous response and may God bless you.

N.B. III Just a reminder that our Blessed Michael McGivney Adoration Chapel is open Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. We do need adorers to sign up for half-hour or one-hour time slots, so that our Lord is never alone. Please consider doing so and that time with Jesus will become a cherished part of your routine. If you cannot commit to a particular day or time, that is OK. Stop by and visit with Jesus when you can, and for however long you can. Whether it's two hours, one hour, a half-hour, twenty minutes, five minutes, or just a quick stop-and-go, always remember that Jesus is there waiting for you. N.B. IV This September, St. Francis de Sales school in Salisbury will be opening a Ninth Grade program. They will be adding another grade each year until they have a complete 9th to 12th Grade program. What an opportunity to be a part of this new high school in our area. For information, contact the school at (410) 749-9907.

N.B. V Please remember the Prayer Service to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 4:00 PM at St. Ann Church. All are invited to come together in prayer as our bishops consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Prayer list

Vocations Prayer for Our Seminarians

Lord, we ask that You give our seminarians this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. Let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread. We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary, the Mother of all priests. Amen.

Prayer for Deceased Clergy

Please remember the deceased bishops, priests and deacons of our Diocese in your daily prayers. This week we remember in a special way: Deacon H. Scott Peterson—June 9, 2023 Rev. James O'Reilly—June 11, 1968 Rev. Edward Storck—June 12, 2017 Rev. Henry Miller—June 13, 1972 Msgr. Patrick Brady—June 13, 2010 Rev. Leo Philip McGann—June 13, 2015 May They Rest In Peace. Amen.
