Vacant Lot Decision and Online Giving Encouragement
Dear Parishioners of Saint Andrew,
For the past year, the Parish Finance Council and I have been working with a developer who was interested in building an assisted living facility on the vacant lot owed by the parish. The proposal was financially advantageous for the parish. In addition, providing assisted living for the elderly addresses a need in Coral Springs and is consistent with our mission as a Catholic parish. The proposal underwent thorough financial review, legal analysis, and discernment by the Parish Finance Council. After due deliberation (and not a little prayer) the Parish Finance Council concluded that that the overall financial and timing risks were not in the best interest of the parish; they recommended not to proceed with the project. I concurred and accepted their recommendation. I am grateful to the company who proposed this project and acknowledge their professionalism and investment in the proposal. The vacant lot is a very valuable asset of the parish The Finance Council and I remain open to other opportunities involving this property and will evaluate any future proposals with the same care, transparency, and consultation.
On another financial note, I encourage you to choose the online platform PushPay for your financial support of the parish. More and more, financial matters are being done electronically. Why wouldn't this include your financial stewardship of the parish? PushPay is convenient, secure, and reliable. We moved from FaithDirect to PushPay for many reasons. PushPay offers you more options regarding the frequency of your donation (e.g., weekly, monthly, etc.) and the ability to direct a donation for a specific purpose (e.g the roof fund, the Outreach Ministry, a particular holyday, etc.). PushPay also offers many helpful features for the parish, including better communication with you, analysis of giving trends, etc. The parish will provide PushPay users with cards to be placed in the offertory basket; this indicates your attendance at Mass. If you used FaithDirect, that account is now closed; so, please make the change to PushPay today. If you have not used electronic giving in the past, I hope you will accept this invitation to do so with PushPay. I thank you for your financial support of our parish. Whether it is the use of online giving or decisions regarding the best use of the vacant lot, I renew my pledge to work with the Parish Finance Council so as to ensure a wise and prudent use of parish resources.
