Hello Family,
On July 4, 2026, the United States marks a historic milestone: the 250th anniversary of its independence. Known as the Semiquincentennial, this celebration commemorates two and a half centuries since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the thirteen American colonies declared their freedom from British rule and began the journey toward becoming a sovereign nation.
Today, we honor the courage, vision, and sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom and laid the foundation of our nation. As we celebrate 250 years of independence, let us cherish the values of liberty, unity, and democracy that continue to guide us forward. As Christians, we have an even greater value to reflect upon as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation's independence. We are called to be freed from everything that hinders our inner freedom and prevents us from living fully in God's grace. We place our trust in the one mighty God who leads us to liberty, justice, and peace. Let us embrace the values of the Gospel and remain faithful to them while cherishing the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this great nation.
Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32). Freedom is directly linked to remaining faithful to the teachings of Jesus. In this context, "truth" is not merely general knowledge, but the divine truth revealed and personified in Jesus Christ. This freedom refers not only to political or physical liberty but, more importantly, to liberation from the spiritual bondage of sin. We follow a God who alone can set us free from despair, worry, anxiety, pain, and suffering. We are called to live according to the teachings of Jesus, which bring light to our lives and to the lives of others. As we walk in that light, the Lord uses us as instruments of His love and grace, helping to free the world from the bondage of sin and the power of evil, and all that takes the Joy of the Gospel away.
May this special day inspire us to work together for a brighter, stronger, and more prosperous future for all.
