Message from the Pastor: Year of Faith Formation

With great joy, we are reaching the end of our year of faith formation. We give thanks to God for the blessing of evangelizing and accompanying children, youth, and adults on this journey of faith.

We sincerely thank all the families who, with commitment and love, have brought their children to catechesis for their Christian formation. We also extend a special thanks to Rebeca, our catechesis coordinator, for her dedication and leadership with a true evangelizing spirit.

We likewise recognize the valuable work of our catechists, who have generously offered their time, talent, and prayer throughout this year.

On May 16 and 17, we will joyfully celebrate First Communions, both from the school and the parish. A total of 49 children will be prepared to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. We invite the entire community to join in prayer for these children, that this encounter with Christ may deeply mark their lives and strengthen their faith.

According to the Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica (Catechism of the Catholic Church), the sacraments are "efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us" (CCC 1131).

Sacramental catechesis seeks to prepare the faithful to receive these sacraments with a living faith, understanding, and proper disposition. It is not only about learning concepts, but about initiating each person into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Through this process, children, youth, and adults discover that the sacraments—especially the Eucharist—are the center of Christian life, where Christ Himself becomes present and nourishes our faith. For this reason, catechetical formation aims to form disciples who live what they celebrate and bear witness to the Gospel in their daily lives.

AÑO DE FORMACIÓN EN LA FE

Con gran alegría estamos llegando al final de nuestro año de formación en la fe. Damos gracias a Dios porque hemos tenido la bendición de evangelizar y acompañar a niños, adolescentes y adultos durante este caminar de fe.

Agradecemos de corazón a todas las familias que, con compromiso y amor, han traído a sus hijos a la catequesis para su formación cristiana. También extendemos un agradecimiento especial a Rebeca, coordinadora de catequesis, por su entrega y liderazgo con un auténtico espíritu evangelizador.

Asimismo, reconocemos la valiosa labor de nuestros catequistas, quienes han ofrecido generosamente su tiempo, talento y oración durante todo este año.

Los días 16 y 17 de mayo celebraremos con gran gozo las Primeras Comuniones, tanto de la escuela como de la parroquia. En total, 49 niños estarán preparados para recibir a Jesús en la Eucaristía por primera vez. Invitamos a toda la comunidad a unirse en oración por estos niños, para que este encuentro con Cristo marque profundamente sus vidas y fortalezca su fe.

Según el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, los sacramentos son "signos eficaces de la gracia, instituidos por Cristo y confiados a la Iglesia, por los cuales nos es dispensada la vida divina" (CEC 1131).

La catequesis sacramental tiene como misión preparar a los fieles para recibir estos sacramentos con fe viva, entendimiento y disposición interior. No se trata solo de aprender conceptos, sino de iniciar a cada persona en una relación más profunda con Jesucristo.

A través de este proceso, los niños, jóvenes y adultos descubren que los sacramentos —especialmente la Eucaristía— son el centro de la vida cristiana, donde Cristo mismo se hace presente y alimenta nuestra fe. Por eso, la formación catequética busca formar discípulos que vivan lo que celebran y den testimonio del Evangelio en su vida diaria.
