A Message from Fr. Rich

Dear Parish Family,

This weekend, we celebrate a truly historic moment, the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of our nation. From many peoples throughout the world, we have become one country. We have much to celebrate, and much work still left to be done. May God bless the United States of America!

I have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages I have received from all of you on the occasion of my being named pastor of St. Angela. I know many of you have been asking me over the past few months, "When are we going to find out whether or not you will be our pastor?" I am very glad, for both our sakes, that the wait is now over. Effective July 15, I will become the ninth pastor of this historic and vibrant faith community. I am honored and grateful to remain here and to grow with you for years to come. Let us look forward to the future, dream big and be open to the Holy Spirit, who guides us and sanctifies us.

You might think to ask me, "Since you've been named the pastor, what is your vision for the parish?" To be clear, I do not have a set agenda for this parish. My commitment is to listen to you and to God as to how we are called to go forward. There is no ministry or idea that I am unwilling to try. I hope to empower you to be flourishing disciples of Jesus through my preaching of the Word and the ministration of the sacraments. I want to foster collaboration between all our ministries. I want to prioritize our children and their faith formation, whether that takes place primarily at our parochial school, at PSR, or in a home school setting, as well as our high school students. After all, our patron saint dedicated her life to the Christian formation of youth. I hope to see all facets and all ages engaged in the life of the parish. Catholicism is not a spectator "sport."

This is just the beginning of a new chapter- let us begin!

Peace,
Fr. Rich
