Pastoral Message - July 5, 2026
Today's "Opening Prayer" reminds us that our Heavenly Father has raised a fallen world through the obedience of Jesus His Son. The words of the prayer also asked that God free us from sin and bestow on us a joy that lasts forever. The Lord Jesus is our hope of finding rest for our souls. In the Gospel today, we heard Jesus say that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. When we live our Christian life as a new creation, we think spiritually. When we think spiritually, we are no longer overwhelmed by worldly ways because we are living with faith and hope. While those of a worldly heart seek to accumulate their worldly treasures, those of a spiritual heart give freely of their blessings. While the worldly-minded hold grudges, those of a spiritual mind stand ready to forgive. In all our daily thoughts, words and actions, let us remember to value the indwelling of the Spirit of God. May we always remember to place God first in our lives and to love our neighbors as ourselves. By doing these things, Jesus instills in our hearts and souls true and lasting peace. As Americans we celebrate 250 years of our freedoms in these United States. As Catholics Christians, we celebrate almost 2,000 years of the freedom from sin that Jesus brings. There can be no greater blessings on both fronts. God bless America! God bless us all!!
