The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is beginning again at Saint Andrew! OCIA is a welcoming community for those who are seeking to become disciples of Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church. Whether you're unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or simply seeking a deeper connection with the Catholic faith, we invite you to take this step with us. If you or someone you know desires full communion with the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), we are here to walk with you on this meaningful journey of faith. Come and see what God has in store for you. Who is OCIA for? - 1. Persons in need of Baptism. - 2. Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic. - (including those who need to receive First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.) Additionally, congratulations to the St Andrew Conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul on their one year anniversary of serving the poor in Bucks County! It has been a year of praying for our neighbors in need, learning about the social services available to assist them and helping them financially. Many of the requests are for rent and PECO bills in addition to food. By meeting with our neighbors we can learn more about their needs and help them plan for self sufficiency. Thank you to our generous parishioners! Your contributions helped neighbors stay in their homes, kept the electricity on and provided food for their families. he bishops of the United States founded the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) to fight poverty by empowering members of local communities, rather than by offering top-down solutions. Using this approach, CCHD-funded organizations identify the most pressing issues and develop creative solutions that lead to lasting positive changes in the community. They address poverty at its roots. Access to affordable housing is a challenge for people in neighborhoods across the United States. Housing insecurity is not limited to big cities—it affects people in small towns and rural areas as well. Kentucky's Lewis County, where 23% of residents live below the poverty line, is one example. Since 1982, People's Self-Help Housing Inc. (PSHH) has helped residents of Lewis County secure affordable housing by constructing new energy-efficient homes, repairing and rehabilitating existing homes, and maintaining affordable rental units, while also creating jobs by training local residents as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. Located in the Diocese of Covington and supported by CCHD funding, PSHH shares CCHD's commitment to helping people help themselves. From as early as "Mommy and Me" classes to eighth grade, eleven years later, Saint Andrew School has taught me everything I know. I have learned countless lessons such as complex fractions, the difference between gerunds and participles, and the periodic table throughout my career at Saint Andrew School. Although these lessons are important, the lessons that I learned at Saint Andrew School that I will carry with me for the rest of my life are the lessons about stewardship and giving back to the community around me. I learned to shine light into other people's lives, therefore, making everyone around me happy. Charity is an essential part of our school community because it pushes students to be better stewards of creation, making them better versions of themselves. I grow in charity everyday through the interactions with my classmates, teachers, and my involvement in school events. Saint Andrew School has shown me charity by giving me an exceptional education, teachers that genuinely care about their students, and an environment where every student is encouraged to be their true selves without any fear or judgment. At Saint Andrew School, my classmates have demonstrated charity by showing me what it truly means to be a friend. They have taught me kindness, compassion, and how to relate to people that are different from myself. My teachers have shown me charity by their true passion of teaching us, and being more than a teacher to their students. They serve not only as educators, but as mentors and role models. I will forever be thankful for the generosity and kindness that my teachers have shown me. Lastly, I have personally shown charity to my school community through school events. I have had many leadership roles at Saint Andrew School, such as being a member of National Junior Honor Society. It emphasizes the importance of service and giving back to our school community and administration that does so much for us. Charity is not just something we are called to do, it is a moral that Saint Andrew School has instilled into us since our early youth. Ultimately, the kindness and diversity of my classmates, my teachers' passion, and my own service through school events have reinforced the lessons of charity that I have been taught at Saint Andrew School since I was two years old. Saint Andrew School has allowed me to grow into my own person while filling me with morals such as charity and giving back to the community around me, working hard, and being kind to everyone. Even as I begin my new era of high school, I will always be a proud member of the Saint Andrew School community and carry the lessons and morals about charity and building my own personal character with me for the rest of my life.

For respect for human life. Let us pray for the respect and protection of human life in all its stages, recognizing it as a gift from God.

Saint Andrew, as the first apostle to recognize and follow Jesus, we pray that you will always lead us to Him. Teach us to lead others to Christ out of love and dedication to Him. Help us to learn the lesson of the Cross and to carry our daily crosses without complaint, so that they may carry us to Jesus. Amen.

At Saint Andrew Catholic Church, we are disciples of Jesus Christ, supporting one another on the journey of faith.
