Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for yourselves
Matthew 11:29
At its heart, humility is the grace to place God first and to love others with a sincere heart. Humility is not thinking less of ourselves. It is remembering who we are before God and allowing His love to guide how we treat others.
Humility costs us something real. It asks us to release our expectations, to let go of comparison, and to open our hearts to what God is placing before us now. This is not weakness. It takes fortitude to remain open when change is difficult. It takes prudence to know when to speak, how to speak, and when to entrust the outcome to God.
This Sunday, our parish lives this call. We give thanks for Fr. Patrick McCain, who served us faithfully and now continues the ministry God has entrusted to him. We receive Fr. Solomon Akpan, who comes to serve among us as a priest of Jesus Christ.
Christ is one Lord, yet He is reflected through many cultures, nations, languages, and servants. To receive Fr. Solomon with humility is to welcome the work of Christ among us. In doing so, we honor Fr. Patrick with gratitude and continue walking together as one parish family.
Mary shows us the way. At the Annunciation she said, "May it be done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38). She opened her heart and received the will of God with faith, trust, and love. We are called to do the same.
Let Us pray:
Lord Jesus, meek and humble of heart, open our hearts to receive You in one another. Give us fortitude to release the past with gratitude and prudence to build what is new with love. Bless Fr. Patrick in his continued ministry. Bless Fr. Solomon as he begins his service among us. May our parish welcome, serve, and walk together in Your name.
Amen
Buen camino!
El Rostro de la Humildad
Paz y bien.
Buen camino!

Vocations Prayer
God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your Son's kingdom as priests, deacons, and consecrated persons. Send your Holy Spirit to help others to respond generously and courageously to your call. May our community of faith support vocations of sacrificial love in our youth and young adults. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Visitors find the church to be a calming and peaceful environment, open during work hours for quiet reflection.
The 9:30 am mass can be very full, so it's a good idea to arrive early.
