2nd Sunday of Lent
Archbishop Gustavo has invited us to join him in being Courageous in Christ by supporting the 2026. Archbishop's Appeal for Ministries. Our parish goal is $39,119. This appeal strengthens the mission of the Church throughout the entire archdiocese feeding the hungry, comforting the sick and imprisoned, forming our young people in faith, and preparing future priests, deacons, and lay leaders, and more.
This weekend, we are conducting an in-pew collection for the appeal. You may give by using the envelopes found in the pew or by scanning the QR code found in the bulletin. Prayerfully consider supporting this important effort. Your gift, no matter the size, makes Christ's love visible in powerful ways. The Archbishop's Appeal for Ministries provides a wonderful opportunity for our parish to be united with our archdiocese. If you are making an online donation, please make sure that you make your parish designation as San Fernando Cathedral so that your gift is credited to our church!
El Arzobispo Gustavo nos ha invitado a acompañarlo siendo Valientes en Cristo, apoyando la Campaña del Arzobispo para los Ministerios 2026. La meta de nuestra parroquia es de $39,119. Esta campaña fortalece la misión de la Iglesia en toda la arquidiócesis: alimentando a los hambrientos, consolando a los enfermos y encarcelados, formando a nuestros jóvenes en la fe y preparando a futuros sacerdotes, diáconos y líderes laicos, entre otras cosas.
Este fin de semana realizaremos una colecta para la campaña desde las bancas. Puede donar utilizando los sobres que encontrará en las bancas o escaneando el código QR que aparece en el boletín. God calls all of us to leave behind our old ways and to follow Him, placing our complete trust in Him. Some of the old ways that we struggle to leave behind might be materialism, selfishness and greed. Yet, God promises to show us a new land and a better way to live. Remember what St. Teresa of Calcutta said, "God does not call us to be successful, God calls us to be faithful."

Dios nos llama a todos a dejar atrás nuestras viejas costumbres y a seguirlo, colocando en Él toda nuestra confianza. Alguna de las viejas maneras que nos esforzamos por dejar atrás pueden ser el materialismo, el egoísmo y la codicia. Sin embargo, Dios nos promete mostrarnos una nueva tierra y una mejor forma de vivir. Recuerde lo que dijo Santa Teresa de Calcuta, "Dios no nos llama a ser exitosos, Dios nos llama a ser fieles".
We journey this Lenten Season as sinners who need renewal and reconciliation. May these forty plus days of this season provide us with prayer, fasting and alms giving for our brothers and sisters.
