The Middle School Cheerleading Squad of St. Gregory the Great Catholic School is composed of nine girls ranging from 4th grade through 8th grade. The Cheerleaders are Ava Garcia, Anya De Luna, Aria Cortez, Madison Sanchez, Kaci Lujan, Helena Luevano, Olivia Rodriguez, Olivia Palacios, and Penelope Segura. You will see them proudly walking through the hallways, helping out a fellow student, participating in other school sports, cheering on the sidelines at school games, performing at school pep rallies, participating in fundraising events, or competing at local competitions. The girls had a rigorous tryout evaluation in June to examine their flexibility, strength, tumbling skills, and stunting skills. The 9 cheerleaders started practicing in the summer to prepare for the Archdiocese of San Antonio Cheerleading Competition Cheer 4 Christ. The squad had an Excellent showing and took home an Excellence Award. Prior to the Fall competition, this group of cheerleaders had no prior experience at a competition cheerleading event. Some girls had experience competing with other teams, but most girls had never had a taste of the competitive world of Cheerleading. Coach Neysa Gonzales was asked to step into the role of Head Coach to level up their skillset. The squad trains every Tuesday and Thursday to grow their skills and knowledge. These cheerleaders bring energy and excitement to their audiences. Most recently they earned First Place Team Champion. The squad competed in a Novice Cheer School Division at the Cheer America Championships here in San Antonio, Texas. The girls were able to showcase the skills they have been training and performed a flawless routine. Beyond entertainment, the squad is deeply committed to community and school causes, making numerous appearances year-round to support their school wide initiatives. The cheerleaders are the pillars of the school community. The St. Gregory the Great School Cheerleaders continue to inspire and uplift, leaving a lasting impact wherever they perform.

TEFA QUALIFYING DISABILITIES EXPLAINED A student with special needs (Tier 1) is defined as a child age 21 or younger with a disability listed in Texas Education Code §29.003 that requires special services to be adequately or safely educated in a public school. Eligible conditions include Autism, Deaf-Blindness, Deaf or hard of hearing, emotional disability, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, Orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment, developmental delay, and noncategorical early childhood. SIBLING PRIORITY Siblings as defined by Education Code, §29.351(9), are: A brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, half-brother, half-sister, or a foster brother or sister who is a dependent of the participating parent and has been placed with the participating parent by an authorized placement agency or by judgment, decree, or other order of a court of competent jurisdiction. Your child's TEFA account is then created so you can choose approved schools, providers, and services.
