Its territory includes Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, and Nantucket counties — Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket among them. The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption in Fall River, built 1852–1856 and on the National Register of Historic Places, is among the oldest church buildings in the city. The diocese includes around 94 parishes.
